Sin Separates us from God.  God is Perfect, Holy, and Just.  We cannot get to God on our own.  God saw us in our sin so He sent His "only begotten" Son, God in the flesh, Jesus Christ.  Jesus as fully God and fully man was perfect and sinless in every way.  He was beaten, bled, and died on the cross.  He took the punishment that we should have taken for our sin.  After three days and three nights He rose again from the dead.  If we confess our sin by putting our trust in Christ's death, burial and resurrection then He forgives our sin.  Trusting in Jesus death, burial, and resurrection applies His salvation to our lives and we no longer are separated from God.
